A beautifully crafted Moroccan Berber (Amazigh) cloak chain dating from approximately 1920–1940, showcasing the distinctive silverwork and decorative traditions of North African jewellery.

Made from coin silver, this traditional cloak chain features engraved box finials designed to attach to fibulae (ornamental cloak fasteners), with a central ball-form pendant element and decorative glass “gems” adding colour and contrast. The chain style, construction and detailing are characteristic of Moroccan silver adornment from the early 20th century.

Traditional silver jewellery held important cultural significance among Amazigh communities, serving not only as personal adornment but also as expressions of identity, heritage and social status. The craftsmanship of the engraved silver elements reflects the skill of North African silversmiths and the enduring appeal of handmade jewellery.

Presented with the natural character and patina expected of a vintage silver piece.
