Antique 1925 Harvey School Lidded Trinket Box by Margaret Woolnough

$650.00
An exceptional and beautifully preserved piece of early 20th-century Australian art pottery.
Hand-built in Brisbane in 1925, this earthenware lidded trinket jar is the work of Margaret Woolnough, a student of the highly influential L.J. Harvey School of Pottery.
The jar features a beautifully hand-sculpted yellow and blue budgerigar bird perched on organic native foliage atop the lid. It stands on distinctively modelled feet, covered in the rich, glossy tonal majolica brown low-fire glaze that defines the iconic Queensland movement.
  • Artist: Margaret Woolnough (L.J. Harvey School, Brisbane)
  • Date: 1925
  • Markings: Inscribed "MW 1925" to base
  • Condition: Perfect antique condition. Remarkably well preserved with no chips, cracks, or restorations to the delicate bird or feet. Minimal age-appropriate crazing to the glaze as expected.
  • Dimensions: 12cm high x 14cm diameter
A rare and historically significant acquisition for serious collectors of early Australian studio and art pottery.
