Deborah Russell — Edge of Town (1986)
An original 1986 landscape painting by collected Australian contemporary artist Deborah Russell.
Titled Edge of Town, this oil on board features a striking, stylised composition of two heavy-canopied golden trees framing a path that leads toward rolling green hills.
The work is defined by its thick paint application and visible palette knife texture, creating a rich surface that catches the light well. It is an excellent example of Russell's mid-1980s style, blending traditional landscape subjects with clean, semi-surreal structures. The piece is housed in its original natural timber frame, matching the warm tones of the artwork.
